I am delighted to welcome you to The Venerable Bede CE Academy and an exciting new phase in the Academy’s development. Our ethos statement shares our vision that all students have the right to an inclusive environment where they can enjoy their learning and develop lifelong skills. We are a neighbourhood academy and open to all children aged 11-16. We offer students the chance to be part of our community and to develop into caring and mature individuals with a thirst for knowledge and a willingness to contribute to the communities in which they live. We have strong links with national and international communities and enjoy raising funds for many charities, encouraging in our students a desire to make a difference to the world.
Our academy environment is fantastic and offers students a chance to learn and pursue excellence together in a stimulating setting. The facilities offer state-of-the-art technology, as well as learning spaces that promote creativity and imagination. In addition, we have full disabled access with lifts for each floor and learning area. All students are given lockers so that there is no need to carry heavy bags around the building. The students are also allowed to stay inside the academy during break and lunchtime with a wealth of extra-curricular activities available for them to choose from.
We have pride in our academy and I am delighted that you are considering The Venerable Bede as the next step in your child’s education. I am confident that we can provide the right level of challenge and stimulation for your child; our excellent exam results this summer – our best ever - show the commitment of all members of staff in the pursuit of academic success. In fact, our results have risen steadily over the past three years, culminating in our successful application to academy status this year.
The partnership between academy and home is extremely important to us and crucial to the success of our young people. We will keep you very well informed about the progress of your child and invite you to share in their success. We keep in regular contact with our parents via our texting and First Day Response system. Fostering a strong relationship between parents/carers and the academy is one of our principal aims and I welcome you to contact the academy at any time. If you would like to visit during a academy day, I would be delighted to arrange for you to be shown around the academy and answer any questions you may have.
