What is an "Extended School"?

By 2010 the Government want more things happening in schools over and above the traditional school day. They want to see:

• All schools and children and families to be able to access a core of extended services developed in partnership with other organisations and the local community.
• All secondary schools open from 8am to 6pm all year round, offering a range of activities for young people.
