Course Aims:

  • To enable communication with speakers of French from around the world.
  • To lay foundations for the learning of other languages.
  • To develop an appreciation and understanding of other countries and cultures.
  • To broaden the range of accessible careers.

Course Description:

This is a linear course with 75% final examination. Coursework is worth 25% and is done as 3 written assignments throughout the 2 years. Exams in Listening, Speaking and Reading are taken at the end of Year 11 at either Foundation or Higher level. Throughout the course 4 themes are studied; My World; Holiday Time and Travel; Work and Lifestyle and The Young Person in Society.

How will I learn:

The 4 skills of Listening, Speaking, reading and Writing are studied in class. An emphasis is placed on building confidence in spoken French and on developing communication skills using up-to-date coursebooks, ICT and authentic materials.
