Course Aims:
These qualifications specifically aim to develop learner's knowledge and understanding of the ICT sector; to develop learner's skills, knowledge and understanding in contexts that are directly relevant to employment situations, thereby enhancing their employability within the ICT sector ; to develop learner's ability to work autonomously and effectively in an ICT context ; to enable learners to develop knowledge and understanding in specialist areas of ICT, and demonstrate the skills needed to participate in the operation and development of ICT specific or ICT non-specific business organisations; to encourage progression to access further or higher education programmes or occupational training on a full-time or part-time basis; to encourage progression by assisting in the development of skills, knowledge and understanding that learners will need to enter employment or enhance their current employment status; to promote interaction between employers, centres and learners by relating teaching and assessment to real organisations.
Course Description: The qualification prepares candidates for the real world of work or further education. They are designed to stimulate candidates’ creativity and develop real-world, practical skills that will motivate learning across a wide range of subjects. Candidates utilise their skills and understanding to create 3 major assignments, this is an extremely practical ICT qualification. This will lead to students achieving the equivalent of 2 GCSEs in this subject.
How will I learn:
The qualification is assessed by the candidate’s production of portfolio assignments. Three units are examined.

Course Aims: CiDA qualification is designed to develop candidates’ ability to select and use digital applications appropriately and produce high quality outcomes; to promote the use of digital applications for achieving a goal, rather than for their own sake; to enhance creativity and communication and encourage candidates to reflect critically on their own and others’ use of digital applications; to equip candidates with some of the skills that they will need in the workplace or in further education or training; to develop project management skills and to free candidates’ work from paper, making it organised, searchable, dynamic and transportable

All candidates must complete Using ICT allowing candidates to gain an Award in Digital Applications (AiDA), then for the Certificate in Digital Applications an additional unit from Multimedia, Graphics or Enterprise will be undertaken.

Pupils have been exploring the use of ICT in a commercial setting. They have been developing their skills and understanding through practical tasks and coursework assignments. Pupils have been demonstrating their ability to analyse, design and implement ICT systems for use in a range of environments including those of industry, commerce and the community.
A wide and balanced range of topics are examined in KS4, to further develop pupils’ knowledge. Year 10 pupils have been completing a major piece of coursework so far this year worth 30% of their GCSE as well as studying towards their paper examination which will be in summer 2008.

Students are exploring the use of ICT in a commercial setting. They are developing their skills and understanding through practical tasks and coursework assignments. Students have demonstrated their ability to analyse, design and implement ICT systems for use in a range of environments including those of industry, commerce and the community. A wide and balanced range of topics are examined in KS4, to further develop students’ knowledge. Year 11 students are developing a second major coursework assignment, worth 30% of their GCSE as well as studying towards their examinations, which take place in January, each of which is worth 20% of their overall GCSE mark.
