Venerable Bede Equipment for School

There are certain essential items students will need in school every day. In order to carry them, and any books and equipment specific to any particular day, a reasonably sized bag will be essential. Advice for the best bags to carry, avoiding back strain, is a rucksack style to be carried on both shoulders. As far as possible equipment should be named.

Essential Items

• Pencil Case
• Coloured pencils (not felt tips)
• Blue or black pens
• Pencil
• Pencil sharpener
• Rubber
• 30cm ruler
• Calculator
• English pocket dictionary
• Spanish pocket dictionary (some year 8 students will also require a French dictionary)
• A reading book, these can be borrowed from the LRC (Learning Resource Centre)
• Student planner (issued by the school)
• A geometry set is a useful item to add to the essentials

Restricted Items

There are some things students MUST NOT bring in to school, these are:

• Chewing gum
• Mobile phones
• Laser pens
• Weapons of any kind
• Drugs/alcohol/cigarettes
• Aerosol cans
• Offensive or unsuitable reading materials
• Walkmans/personal stereos
• Jewellery, other than a watch
