Biology
Students are following AQA Biology Award Science (modular) over the two years of GCSE. They are assessed in three ways.

Two objective module tests (30 minutes each)

Coursework - Centre Assessed Units in Years 10 and 11 (45 minutes each)

Two written papers (45 minutes each)
At the end of the course students will be awarded a GCSE in Biology.

Chemistry

Students are following AQA Physics Award Science (modular) over the two years of GCSE. They are assessed in three ways.

Students are continuing to follow AQA Science Core Award (modular) in Y.10. They are assessed in two ways:
Six objective module tests (30 minutes each)

After completing the Science Core they begin the AQA Science Additional course and complete that in Year 11. They are again assessed in two ways:
Three module examinations (45 minutes each)

BTEC Science
During Year 10 students are completing half of the BTEC Extended Certificate in Applied Science. There are three modules to complete:
Chemistry and our Earth

Energy and our Universe

Biological and our Environment
The work for this course is assessed using a portfolio of work developed by the student throughout the year.
During Year 11 students complete the second half of the Extended Certificate:
Applications of Chemical Substances

Applications of Physical Science

Health Applications of Life Science
