Our Curriculum
“Ambition for All”
At Venerable Bede Church of England Academy, our curriculum is rooted in our Christian faith and our vision to soar to the heights together. We believe every pupil is unique and deserves a broad, ambitious and inclusive education. Guided by our Christian values — hope, joy, forgiveness, perseverance and wisdom — we aim to ensure ambition for all regardless of background or starting points and to remove barriers to make our curriculum accessible to every pupil.
Our curriculum is carefully designed so that pupils build knowledge, understanding and skills progressively, experience joy and wonder in learning, and develop the resilience and wisdom to respond to life’s challenges. Through our curriculum, pupils are encouraged to think deeply, act compassionately and make wise choices, preparing them to contribute positively to society and to soar to the heights together.
Aims:
- Reflect our identity as a Church of England school and promote spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development.
- Raise attainment, with a strong focus on English and Mathematics.
- Provide entitlement to a broad, balanced, and coherent curriculum that secures high standards of achievement.
- Equip pupils with essential knowledge, understanding, and skills across all subjects.
- Prepare pupils for future education, employment, and life in modern Britain.
- Develop responsible citizens who engage positively with their local, national, and global communities.
- Promote health, safety, and well-being, enabling pupils to make informed choices.
- Foster creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Personal Development:
Personal Development is integral to our curriculum. Through a carefully sequenced programme, pupils develop resilience, character, and life skills, alongside understanding British Values and protected characteristics. This ensures they are well prepared for life beyond school.
